Since its inception in 2006, the foundation has granted funds to more than a dozen not-for-profit organizations. Generous sponsors, donors and your attendance at our events make this possible!
Who May Apply?
Community-based, non-for-profit organizations, projects and programs whose missions are of benefit or interest to the gay community in the New York Metropolitan area and/or designed to protect, enhance and maintain the environment, cultural life, health and infrastructure of the Fire Island Pines community. Organizations must be established as a 501(c)(3) corporation or have a suitable fiscal agent.
The foundation will give preference to innovative projects by organizations designed to protect, enhance and maintain the environment, cultural life, health and infrastructure of the Fire Island Pines community. The foundation does not consider grants for individuals, religious activities or organizations that lack tax exempt status under U.S. law.
How Does Fund In The Sun Foundation Make The Grant Decision?
All proposals are reviewed and approved by the Board of Trustees of the foundation.
How Does The Annual Grant Cycle Work?
Requests for a grant should be received by the foundation no later than mid-June for the fiscal year for which the grant is requested. Detailed requests should be sent to Hal Rubenstein, Chairman, Board of Trustees, by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
